Ancestor Canoes
The spirit canoe (wuramon) represents the journey to the world of the spirits in the most classical way. The boats are bottomless and may have different sizes. The wuramon carries a row of seated or kneeling human figures and stylized animal sculptures, such as the magic turtle, a symbol of male fertility often used in young men’s initiation ceremonies.
