The Art of the Headhunters, the art of headhunting
On Thursday 24 September 2009 Russell Reynolds Associates, leading Executive Search company (colloquially known as “headhunters” ), has organized an event to celebrate its 20 years of activity in Italy and 40 years worldwide.
During the event, reserved to the clients and friends of Russell Reynolds Associates, a first preview of Asmat masterpieces will be presented. These works of art, created in West Papua by the Asmat people, known as famous carvers and feared headhunters in time past, have acquired an international fame after the disappearence of Michael Rockefeller in that region at the beginning of the 60’s. The Asmat masterpieces collected by Rockefeller, the young anthropologist and scion of the renowned American family, are exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

Seminomadic hunters and gatherers move on foot and by swift canoes in the silent rain forest, while in the quiet of the village the master carver engraves the totemic pole with reverence.
Between the man and the environment there is respect, even today.
They know that since the origins the creator Fumeripits carved the ancestors in the wood and gave them life through the sound of the drum.
