Dani :
a people from the central highlands of West Papua, who became known only in 1938, when they were first sighted from an airplane by an American pilot who landed in the Baliem Valley due to emergency reasons. They are skilled agriculturists and pig farmers. The easternmost Dani are called Yali, meaning People of the East.
